Lego make quite a number of model train set kits, both with and without tracks. The Creator 3 in 1 Minitrains set No. 4837 contains three small trains which are standalone and are not designed to be used on train tracks. They are however very detailed and great fun.

The kit comes in a plastic box complete with instructions for the three trains, and a bag containing an incredible variety of pieces. Many of the pieces are very small and rather fiddly; considerable use is made of the flat plate pieces which outnumber the lego brick pieces by quite a bit. This set is therefore suitable for the older child or enthusiast who can manage smaller pieces easily. It would not suit a younger child, or someone with difficulties in manual dexterity.
A clear, full colour manual is included with a full bill of parts, so that it is easy to check that all the pieces are there. The kit actually includes a few extra of some of the smaller pieces which is very helpful.
Instructions and Construction of the Trains
The instructions are very clear and accurate, with only one "turn over the model" symbol missing. It is however obvious what should be done and the omission doesn't really matter. All three of the models are very detailed and make full use of the pieces supplied. Some of the construction techniques are really very clever. However, once the wheels have been made up it is not necessary to take them apart for the next model as they are constructed in exactly the same way for each train.
Storage and Transportation of the Lego Trains
The very durable small box that the kit comes in should not be thrown away as it provides excellent storage space for the trains. They can actually fit right into the box along with the extra pieces and the instructions, making this set great for taking on holiday or on a visit for something to pass the time.
A Lego Set that Represents Good Value for Money
The sheer range and number of pieces included in this set is considerable. There are many rather unusual pieces which cannot be found in the average Lego bundle box, and the fact that instructions for no less than three models are included means that the kit will provide plenty of entertainment. The trains are fun to play with once made up as they run very smoothly and fit well in the hand.
